Utah Iron Mine Mill Building
Heavy industrial construction featuring record-setting cement pours in Cedar City, Utah
Project Overview
The Utah Iron Mine Mill Building is a signature project in Gilbert Development Corp's portfolio, featuring what were at the time the largest continuous cement pours in Utah history. Located near Cedar City, Utah, this heavy industrial construction project demanded extraordinary coordination, equipment capabilities, and construction expertise.
The project required continuous 23-hour cement pour operations, coordinating multiple concrete trucks and specialized equipment including vibratory cement compactors to ensure structural integrity throughout each massive pour. The scale and precision of these operations set new benchmarks for industrial concrete construction in the state.
Gilbert Development coordinated closely with CML Mines on concentrate plant operations, ensuring the mill building construction integrated seamlessly with the broader mining facility. This project required the full breadth of our heavy civil construction capabilities, from earthwork and site preparation through structural concrete and industrial facility construction.
Completed in 2011, the Utah Iron Mine Mill Building remains one of the most technically demanding projects in our history and a powerful demonstration of our ability to execute heavy industrial construction.
